Review Lowepro Micro Trekker 100
The Lowepro Micro Trekker 100 is a camera bag that looks “cute” due to the length to width ratio. It is, as one can say, the little sister of the Lowepro Micro Trekker 200. Both fit into the category 'small rucksack’ and have 2 shoulder straps. The Micro Trekker 100 is too small for a 70-200 mm 2.8 but a Canon 70-200 mm 4.0 does fit well. In the Lowepro Micro Trekker 100, there is then just enough room for additional items such as lenses or small matter.

What will fit in? |

Because this is a very small bag, it is also fairly narrow. It is not possible to have 3 rows of lenses. A row will have to be used for something smaller like a flash or a lens hood. The middle row is for the camera and lens and the third for a maximum of 2 lenses. The bag is also somewhat limited in length; the longest lens cannot be more than about 18 cm. A 70-200 mm 2.8 does not fit, the f/4.0 version does. The side of the bag where the handle is, is rather round in shape; that takes up some space too. The bag is fairly flat. A body with the size of the Canon 5D MK2 fits in terms of height, but a lower body would fit better. |

Construction and finishing |
The outer fabric feels firm but definitely not inflexible. The stitching is carefully done and the zippers have an extra flap against the entry of rainwater. If you think you do not need this flap, it can be folded; so when you unzip, it will not bother you. The zippers run, because of this, nicely and smoothly. The bag is done very Spartan-like, I miss things like a pocket for a cellphone, straps for a tripod, a pocket for a water bottle and a good option for mounting a monopod. On the front is a lockable pocket to put in securities or similar. Nice detail is the little clip to which you can attach those papers. Putting down the bag on a wet or dirty surface is not very wise; the bottom has no extra protection against penetrating water or dirt. |

Use comfort |
The 2 back straps are easily adjustable. The padding of it is good but there is a hard edge on the inside of the shoulder strap. This does not feel pleasant. The shoulder straps can be connected to each other with an additional strap. The length thereof is easy to adjust. The back side of the bag is made of a type of netting. The hip band is, due to the small size of the bag, turned into a belly band and that wears less enjoyable. This band is easily adjustable, but has no padding. The handle at the top does not have padding either. This is hardly necessary because the bag will never have an extremely heavy load. |

Usability |
The bag has separate divisions that remain in place with Velcro. Changing the division is fast. The top or lid will open far enough because the zippers are fastened to the edge. You can smoothly take your photographic equipment from the bag. On the inside of the lid is a pocket with a zipper to, for example, store a gray card and memory cards. The stitching on the inside has been carefully executed too. This Lowepro has two shoulder straps and not one like the Slingshot. This Lowepro Micro 100 will thus have to be put down to take the camera and lenses out, and that takes time. Also, it is not always easy to find a sufficiently dry, clean and dust free place for it. The back of this bag often becomes dirty then, giving you consequently a dirty back. |

The Lowepro Micro Trekker 100 is a very compact backpack with few extras. The stitching is well done and the unfoldable anti-water flap of the zipper is handy. I do miss protection against water and dirt on the bottom. The user comfort is slightly decreased due to the raw edge of the otherwise well-padded shoulder straps. The inside of the bag is nicely finished and the dividers are easily moved. Because it is a bag with two shoulder straps, the bag must be put down for you to get your camera out. This can be a disadvantage. If you do not take too much equipment when photographing, the Lowepro Micro Trekker 100 is a good choice. |
